Inter Milan VS Barcelona, Surprising Facts About Malcom

Barcelona held at Inter

The 21-year-old has found minutes hard to come by since a summer move from Bordeaux, but made his time on the field at San Siro count on Tuesday
Malcom has not enjoyed a great start to life at Barcelona, but his Champions League debut on Tuesday could hardly have gone better.

Just two minutes after coming off the bench, Malcom netted in the 83rd minute to give Barcelona a late 1-0 lead over Inter at San Siro.

Inter star Mauro Icardi scored a late leveller against his former club to ensure the match ended 1-1, but the draw still ensured Barcelona secured a place in the last 16 with two matches to spare in Group B.

Malcom's goal will come as a huge boost for the 21-year-old, who has barely seen any first-team action since making a controversial €41 million (£36.5m/$48m) move from Bordeaux in the summer.

Including Tuesday's match, Malcom has made just four appearances in all competitions so far this season, with only one of those coming from the start.

In fact, Malcom has been forced to deny he is already looking to leave the Blaugrana in January due to a lack of playing time.

But the Brazilian did his chances for more playing time no harm by scoring at Inter, one of the clubs rumoured to be interested in him this summer.

With his goal, Malcom became the first player to score on his Champions League debut for Barcelona since Cristian Tello, who netted twice against Bayer Leverkusen in March 2012.

Following the match, Barcelona midfielder Sergio Busquets provided his team-mate with some words of encouragement.

“Malcom’s a great player," Busquets told Movistar. "He’s working hard to get minutes and his goal will come in handy for him."
